On August 8th, 2025, Deputy H.M. Stephens filed a complaint in the Court of Magistrate Lora Davis against James Darrell Villers of Pine Creek Road in Grantsville. Deputy Stephens stated that on August 8th, 2025 at approximately 6:24 p.m., she and Chief Deputy C.R. Stephens served a personal safety order to James Villers.
Approximately 5 minutes after serving Mr. Villers the order where he was advised that he was not permitted to call, text, or contact a certain individual, Calhoun Control received a phone call notifying them that Mr. Villers had violated the order and sent that same individual an electronic message. Deputies were provided with a screenshot of a Facebook chat in which the apparent account of James Villers sent several messages stating “tell your dad I’m ready for him lol. I’ll eat him. I got either a baseball bat or a bullet to prove it.”
He was told by the recipient “don’t text me again,” but at 6:26 p.m. James Villers replied “lol the police just woke me up p**sy.”
Both Deputy H.M. Stephens and Chief Deputy C.R. Stephens then returned to Mr. Villers’ address and placed him under arrest for the violation of a personal safety order and making contact via electronic device after being requested to desist.
Villers is currently being held in the WV Central Regional Jail on a $5,000 bond for Harassing Phone Calls in Case 25M07M00198 and without bond for a Parole violation. He is considered innocent until proven guilty.
