2022 is ”The Year of the Houner” with Positivity and Progress

Architectural Plans for the Calhoun County Community Center

The 1982 Foundation continues to make progress on the Calhoun County Community Center as Spring events and exciting announcements continue to come. The work crews are one room away from finishing the internal demo with the next step starting the framing on the gymnasium roof where there is rot and fixing the stage in preparation for the Spring Fling Follies event on April 16. In addition to the restoration of the old building, new construction will begin on the Head Start building once the State Fire Marshall provides the approvals necessary to begin.

More attention was garnered for the project from the WV Chamber of Commerce for WV Executive Magazine as Foundation President Crystal Mersh prepares to speak at the WV Chamber Women’s Conference. While there she’ll be sharing what’s happening in Calhoun with regard to ”Paying it Backward.”

And speaking of backward, Monday’s Calhoun County Commission meeting is sure to be an exciting one with the 1982 Foundation back on the agenda with more discussion and hopefully a solution to putting the old school and the old field back together again. This part of the plan for the Community Center could lead to some wonderful recreational opportunities for the county and more expansion on the Grantsville project.

Community presence is encouraged as the County Commission meeting attendance continues to grow with citizen interest and opinion. The Calhoun County Commission will be meeting Monday, March 14, at 9 a.m. in the Little Courtroom in the Courthouse. Ridgeview News will attempt a better sound quality for a Facebook live to offer more people the opportunity to listen in as Calhoun County continues to make 2022 the ”Year of the Houner,” with positivity and progress.
