For the third time in the year 2023 an office has been vacated with need of an appointment by the Calhoun County Commission. This time, it is one of their own. Republican Matt Walker resigned as Calhoun County Commissioner effective September 5th, 2023 upon the acceptance of his resignation by the two remaining Commissioners, Craig Arthur and Kevin Helmick.
In addition to his role as a Commissioner, Walker also carried the title of President of the Commission. Following the acceptance of resignation, Commissioner Kevin Helmick nominated Craig Arthur as President of the Calhoun County Commission. Craig Arthur seconded that nomination, the two voted in favor and within a few short minutes, the meeting was over.
The regular September meeting of the Calhoun County Commission will be at 9 a.m. on September 11, 2023.
