Carl Ferrell is home after having open heart surgery. Mr. & Mrs. “Cooter” Marks were among those calling at the Ferrell residence.
A big crowd was on hand for the Creston Community Building Christmas party. The younger set spent time on the merry go round and everyone worked at consuming the bountiful amount of food that was presented. Linda Buchanan led the singing and John Griffin provided the music. A cute little toddler with curly red hair “stone the show”. When she got on Santa’s lap she did not intend to leave. Ted Grimm & Debbie were down from Erie Pennsylvania for the occasion and Heather Cortez came in from the Chicago area. Gary Dickens’ cuddly kittens came over to entertain those who came to the building.
Sen. Donna Boley got a $5,000 grant for the Creston Food Pantry to acquire new freezers & refrigerators. A big crowd was on hand Friday and the Christmas hams were given out.
Frank Duskey, age 92, passed away December 13 up in Ohio after falling & breaking his hip. A veteran of the Korean War, he was retired from the B & W. Burial in the Western Reserve National Cemetery in Ohio. He was the son of Charles & Lydia Nelson Duskey.
The Christmas party for the residents at the extended care unit at Minnie Hamilton was postponed because of a nasty stomach virus.
At least one local family received a Christmas card from Donald, Melania & Barron.
Mr. & Mrs. Tom Lemon were celebrating their 61st wedding anniversary on Friday. She is the former Betty Jo Graham from Creston. In a discussion about health matters and diabetes being too sweet] Betty Jo pointed out that they could not be too sweet “because we are Lemons”.
Most places there is talk of growing more trees but the state road continues to trim/butcher trees as part of a big $$ operation run by head engineer Dimbulb with trimming expertise by Dinglefoose and all under the wise financial leadership of E. M. Bezzell. On W. Va. 5 they continue to whack tree limbs and on W. Va. 14 one can see the sharp sticks that look like the poles Count Dracula (Vlad Tespes) used to impale his enemies. Down in Wood County heavy equipment is being used to eliminate the red buds that provide beauty for travelers in the spring. Are some working overtime to make W. Va. look bad?
Mr. & Mrs. Darrell Hacker & Hie Lee Herron were attending to business in Pettyville. Hie Lee said that since he “couldn’t take it with him” he was spending his money. He had some toys in his cart.
The Ohio DNR has shut down 3 of the K & H water injection wells near Torch Ohio. The company insists that the injected fluids are not in communication with other wells, surface water, etc. W. Va. brines are injected in these wells as the salt lobby does not want the brine used to make salt.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil dropped to $70.58/bbl. with condensate fetching just $52.58/bbl. and Marcellus & Utica light bringing $61.58 and medium $70.58/bbl. Pennsylvania grade crude is rich in lubricants and components for things like cosmetics, etc. Motor oil is now just $420/bbl.
