February 10 Open House
The Historical Society will be having an Open House in the Stump House Hotel. We are showing to the public for the first time the new staircase that was completed by Galaxy Woodworking in January. It features a 100+yr old newel post, spindles and railing that were beautifully refurbished by Galaxy, and goes with the new oak on the staircase. We will be open for tours throughout the hotel.
The Museum will be open and will be showing, for the first time, original Stump Hotel items we received from Mrs. Jo Ann Stump in Florida. Her late husband, Dr. Charles Stump, was the son of Albert and Gladys Weaver Stump(Quality Shop), and the great grandson of the owner and builder of the Stump Hotel. We received a wicker chair, table and the violin that belonged Charlie “Spav” Stump.
We have several items for sale in the museum including copies of The Legend of Mammy Jane.
Tickets will be available for those who make donations and should be turned in at the 1982 Foundation for prize drawings.nAny purchase over $10 gets a receipt to turn in to enter a raffle.
