Department of Tourism shares third fall foliage update of 2026
Charleston, W.Va. – The West Virginia Department of Tourism has issued its third official 2026 foliage report and updated statewide map.
This week’s top destinations to see fall foliage include Babcock State Park, Summersville Lake State Park, Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park and New River Gorge National Park & Preserve.
The fall color aligns with West Virginia’s largest single-day event, Bridge Day, taking place this Saturday, October 17. Visitors traveling to the New River Gorge can experience foliage alongside the state’s signature outdoor celebration.
Travelers planning a fall getaway can easily pair foliage viewing with unique local attractions:
- The West Virginia Paranormal Trail: Haunted by the ghostly apparition of “The Colonel,” a bearded Civil War officer, the Historic Glen Ferris Inn offers a one-of-a-kind experience steeped in history and mystery.
- Fall SWINGO Challenge: Check in at ‘Almost Heaven’ swings in the region to earn exclusive West Virginia prizes.
