Virginia “Gin” Swart, 94, of Annamoriah, West Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 8, 2026. With her earthly journey complete, she was welcomed into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father, where there is no more pain or sorrow, only eternal peace and rest.

Gin was born on November 3, 1931, in Annamoriah, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Scott T. Greathouse and Ova Grogg.

Gin worked for 12 years at Yoder Brothers Greenhouse and five years at Wright Tool and Die. However, her most cherished and important role was that of a loving homemaker, dedicating her life to caring for her husband, raising her children, and making a house a home. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and working puzzles. Gin was a member of Snyder Chapel Church in Annamoriah, where her faith was an important part of her life.

Above all else, Gin loved her family. Her children lovingly described her as “the best mother in the world” and said they were truly blessed to have her as their mother. Her love, kindness, and devotion to her family will forever remain in their hearts. She leaves behind a lifetime of precious memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Chuck (Juanita Helmick) Lockhart, Sis (Dan) Metz, Greg (Sandy) Lockhart, Gayle (Rose) Lockhart, Teresa Lockhart, Dinah (James) Jewell, and Mark (Theresa) Lockhart; daughter-in-law, Jen Lockhart; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Gin was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ward Swart; and one son, Lewis Lockhart.
