The Calhoun County Solid Waste Authority Along with the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP/Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan (REAP), will be holding their annual river tire clean-up on Saturday, August 10, 2024, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Last year’s river clean up was a great success collection 300 tires in a three mile span with approximately 30 volunteers.
This year, the group will begin at the Grantsville Town Bridge (put in behind Nu Look) and float 3 miles collecting tires and trash along the way. The volunteers will enjoy a cookout afterwards at the takeout area past Furr’s Auto Sales.
Volunteers are needed to make this year’s river clean up a big success. Please join the group and bring along any johnboats or kayaks if you have them. REAP will be bringing johnboats and canoes for the group to use as well. It takes lots of volunteers and dedication to continue these efforts.
If your’d like to join the group or have questions, please contact Brenda Bush at 681-428-8250 or Lisa Cooper at 304-531-2672.
