Smith Competes at Camp Kidd in Tucker County

Calhoun Cross Country athlete GABI SMITH placed 17th in the WVSSAC Class A Region 2 Championship being named 2nd team All Region, at Camp Kidd in Tucker Co on October 24, 2024. Gabi was the only high school runner to compete in this regional meet.

GABI will advance to WVSSAC State Championship being held on November 2nd at Cabell Midland High School.

WEST VIRGINIA HUNTERS HARVEST 118,606 DEER DURING THE 2022 AND 2023 SEASONS

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Deer hunters in West Virginia have had a good year. According to preliminary numbers released by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources on Thursday, hunters harvested 118,606 deer during the 2022–2023 seasons, which is a 12.7 percent increase over the 2021 harvest and 12.2 percent above the five-year average of 105,718.
