Reflections of Wood Festival 2025

Although the Festival had a rain soaked Friday, overall the weather cooperated for an outstanding event. The Wood Festival Committee should be congratulated for pulling off another successful Festival.

Ridgeview’s favorite part of the festival is watching friends and family reconnecting as they meander through the festival streets and run into people they’ve not seen for a while and pickup right where they left off. Seeing the crowd gather around retired Principal and Teacher Robert Bonar did my heart good, knowing that they love and appreciate him as much as I do. He’s a jewel!

A less than proud moment for me was the vandalism of the Batman car during his time in our wonderful community.

Batman was featured during the parade and made his way through the crowd taking photos and being a treat for young and old alike. The Bat-Mobile was parked in front of the courthouse for photo ops and he even popped the hood to allow interested parties to take a look inside. At some point, I’m sure a very proud thief, managed to remove the oil filter cap from the Bat-Mobile. A disgusting petty crime that spoke poorly for our community. But thank goodness for our own hero’s like Calvin Wilson who hooked the Super Hero up with a new cap .

The Parade was filled with beautiful floats, automobiles, royalty from Calhoun and surrounding counties, the Calhoun Marching Band and beautiful horses to finish out the Parade line up. Thank you to the entrants and to those who organized the event.
