The 21-month program offers prospective students a quality, hospital-based nursing education with an option for a full tuition waiver in exchange for a three-year work commitment in any WVU Medicine hospital upon graduation. The first cohort for fall 2025 will begin classes on Aug. 25.
Located in the WVU Innovation Corporation in Morgantown, the Center for Nursing Education is a state-of-the-art, hospital-based nursing school and registered nursing diploma program. The school features innovative learning and training spaces along with amenities to address barriers to education experienced by many students, such as study rooms, laundry facilities, a food bank, and lactation rooms.
“So many amazing things are happening at the Center for Nursing Education,” Tanya Rogers, Ed.D., M.S.N., assistant vice president of nursing education for the CNE, said. “Our dedicated faculty and staff can’t wait to welcome and serve our students and another round of applicants.
“Our comprehensive admission process allows applicants to present their strengths regarding a variety of criteria. We have information on our website and appointments available to help those interested navigate the process.”
To be eligible for enrollment, interested students must have a high school diploma, GED, or TASC equivalent by Oct. 1. Prerequisites for the program include a C average or higher in high school or college algebra, chemistry, and English.
The program’s application and all necessary materials must be completed and submitted by Oct. 1 for priority admission to the third cohort of students, which will begin classes in August 2026. Application cycles open in January and August each year, one year prior to the intended date of enrollment.
