The public hearing before the West Virginia Public Service Commission on the proposed Hope Gas 41% rate increase will be November 3 at 6 P. M. At the PSC office at 201 Brooks Street in Charleston. One can virtually participate as well by citing Case 25-0417-G-42-T. The proposal includes a minimum fee of $700 for each meter selling gas into the Mother Hope system was a 30% “line loss” deduction. With current very low gas prices [for West Virginia] very few of the existing gas meters would even generate the $700 minimum fee. It would appear that some of the neglected Rockefeller children need new shoes.
The Creston Community Building Veteran’s Day event will be Sunday, November 9 at 2 P. M. All veterans are welcome. There will be patriotic speakers and refreshments.

The big government “shut down” has been a nothing burger for most folks but those who actually rely on food stamps now have reason to worry. The Creston Food Pantry will be able to schedule a Friday food handout and there was the buzz over the weekend that the gov was mad at Hancock County and Wirt was to get what was supposed to go there. The fact that there are 42 million on the program indicates that there are lots of very serious problems including illegal aliens being kept by taxpayers. The Tick Tock videos complaining show corpulent well dressed and manicured folks who seem very entitled and as the late Larn Headley would say, “Wouldn’t work in a pie factory”. There was the family in Calhoun County who used the handout to purchase lobster tails and the fellow who lived in a southern county who bought the best steak so he could feed it to his game chickens. Some years ago a local couple was in a Wally World near Columbus and a couple, dressed to the nines, was in front in the line. She had a full cart of junk food along with 6 apples & 4 oranges. About $12 was denied on her “magic card” so she turned to the feller for some cash. He turned around and pulled out one of those long money bags with a chain. He opened the bag and looked and finally found a $20. There had to have been $100,000 in cash in the bag. Perhaps if the food was restricted to flour, meal, rice, dry beans, powered milk and cheese more would elect to obtain employment and be self supporting.
The rain the other day showed places where driveways were running water out on the highway. Of course in winter this would make icy spots causing wrecks and even death. In prior times the county would send out equipment to fix the driveways so folks would not face danger. It is unclear if Engineer Evans Core Maintenance Manual includes such directions. Time will tell. Last week the Wirt crew ground off part of the bump at the ends of the Elizabeth bridge.

Range Resources, the first Marcellus driller, reported that by 2030 (in 5 years) there will be a demand for 2.5 bcf/day [billion cubic feet] for AI Data Centers, which is more than the company’s present 2.23 bcf/day of production. The largest producer Expand has 7.2bcf/day and LNG export is now 17.4bcf/day. It is clear that there will be a lot of new drilling to keep up.
The United Nations hates the USA and is opposed to fossil fuels but, for some reason, the UN gave Rusty Hutson, Jr.’s Diversified the Methane Gold Standard medal. Who knows?

Morgan Stanley said that natural gas would go to the $5 range next year. Creston area gas does well to bring $2 even though it is 18% ethane.
The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude is now $59.57/bbl. With condensate fetching $41.57/bbl. Or under $1/gallon and Marcellus &Utica light bringing $48.57/bbl. Pennsylvania grade crude is paraffin based and is used for high dollar products, not motor fuel. So far this year the price of crude oil has changed 209 times.
