
Jeannie Kay Peters, 71 of Glenville, WV; (Letter Gap community) departed this earthly life in the late evening hours of Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV; following an extended illness.
She was born February 27, 1954 in Lockney, WV; daughter of the late Delbert and Geneva (Harris) Parsons.
Kay worked as a cook/custodian at Glenville State University for many years, having retired in 2019. Kay is a Christian by faith and member of the Glenville Christian Chapel. In her spare time, Kay enjoyed cooking, visiting the Amish country, doing yard work when she was able, caring for her family and spoiling her grandkids and great-grandkids whenever possible.
On April 18, 1970 Kay was united in marriage to John Peters, who survives at their Letter Gap home.
From that union, 3 children survive, Lisa King (Dewayne) of Letter Gap, Donna Estep of Parkersburg, WV; and John Peters Jr (Ashley) of Glenville, 10 grandchildren, Alexis Beall (Brennan), Jodi Snider (Matt), Cassandra Pettit, Haley Peters, Ashley Peters, Emma Peters, Hunter Bailey, Cutler Bailey, Ryan Maxwell, and Jayden Maxwell, and 4 great-grandchildren, Chi Snider, Chance Snider, Payton Dinnin, and Elias Blizard.
Also surviving are 3 sisters, Greta Peters (Paul) of Normantown, Wanda Accord of Beckley, WV; and Trish Knicley of Arnoldsburg, WV; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with her parents (Delbert and Geneva), Kay is preceded in death by 9 siblings, Hallie Minney, Madeline Duskey, Lenora Miller, Pearl Parsons, Cora Kimes, Eddie Parsons, Chester Parsons, Harry Jack Parsons, Jessie D. Parsons and Steven “Bub” Parsons.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV 26351 at 1:00 PM; Friday, January 30, 2026 with Pastor Jim Huff officiating. Burial will follow in the Collins Community Cemetery in Stumptown, WV. Friends will be received from 4:00 – 7:00 PM; Thursday evening at the mortuary in Glenville.
