Melvin B. Grove Sr., 84, of Auburn, WV; departed this earthly life in the evening hours of Wednesday, April 15, 2026 in the comfort of his home, following an extended illness.
He was born December 12, 1941 in Massillon, OH: son of the late Perlee and Alice (Stankey) Grove.
Melvin took early retirement from the Norfolk Southern Railroad as a track maintenance worker and welder. After retirement, he enjoyed living the quiet life in West Virginia, hunting, fishing, tinkering in his garage, wood working, and he is a Christian by faith.
In September of 2000, Melvin was united in marriage to Phyllis (Hart) Grove, who survives at their Auburn home.
Surviving are 5 children, Glen Richard “Rich”, Rocky Allen, Melvin B. Jr., and Doyle Lee Grove, and Melody Grove, and 6 grandchildren, Hannah, Corbin, Samantha, Jason, Jarod, and Seth.
Also surviving are is a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his parents (Perlee and Alice), Melvin is preceded in death by a grandson, Cody Grove, and 9 brothers and sisters.
Melvin’s request for cremation has been honored and a private celebration of his life will be conducted later in 2026.
