Abicht facing 3rd Offense Domestic Battery

William Abicht, is currently in the West Virginia Central Regional Jail having been charged with felony Third Offense Domestic Battery, bond was set at $50,000 and a preliminary hearing date of April 27th, 2026 was set by Magistrate Teresa Robinson.

Senior Trooper J.D. Richards filed a complaint in the Magistrate court of Calhoun County stating that on Sunday, March 1st, 2026, at approximately 9:40 p.m. he was contacted by West Virginia State Police Troop 4 Dispatch to assist with a suspicious female at the address of 39 Wilderness Lane, Spencer, Roane County.

On the same date, Trooper Richards arrived on scene and spoke with the complainant who advised that a female had walked into her dining room while she was eating dinner with some friends. The complainant advised that the female was soaking wet and swaddled in a blanket. The complainant advised that the female was shivering profusely and that she was shoe-less. The complainant also described that the female advised them that she was trying t o get away from a William Abicht who was residing with her a t 938 Pink Rd., Calhoun County, whom the Trooper was familiar with. The female then advised that William Abicht would not let her get her things from the residence and advised Trooper Richards that the female walked down the road towards Otto Road at a particular address with a couple of trailers out front of the residence.

Trooper Richards went to that address that was described on Otto Road and made contact with the female. The female victim was identified, being previously known by the Trooper. The Trooper spoke to the victim who advised that William Abicht was her boyfriend and was living with her at the address of 938 Pink Road. She advised that she had been living with William Abicht since she was released from Prison in December of 2024. Advising Trooper Richards that William Abicht had kept her at the residence, took her cell phone and would not let her leave. She stated that she attempted to leave but Mr. Abicht caught her and dragged her out of the house then down the driveway then back to the house. She also described that a few days prior Mr. Abicht had punched her in the nose leaving a bruise o n her nose. When she lifted her glasses off of her nose and Trooper Richards was able to observe the bruise on her nose, which the Trooper photographed.

The victim described Mr. Abicht as crazy, and that he had told her on multiple occasions that she was not allowed to leave the residence until all her marks were healed.

Trooper Richards later ran Mr. Abicht’s information through WVSP Troop 4 Dispatch to determine if he had prior Domestic Battery charges. The results of this search found that Mr. Abicht was convicted of domestic Battery on 05/06/11 in Roane County, W V and also a second offense of Domestic Battery on 10/12/2022 in Braxton County, WV.

Taking all facts into accou’nt, Trooper Richards requested a warrant for Domestic Battery – Third Offense. Abicht was taken into custody on April 19th, 2026.
