Saturday September 26 will be the big fall Creston ATV Poker Run. It is supposed to rain all week so there will be lots of mud and water. While laying out the route one chariot landed on its side and a winch & tow straps quickly got the rider and unharmed SXS back on the trail. There are several “he man” holes to check out machines and the skill of drivers. The route will be between 55 & 60 miles depending on the depth of the water.
The local area continues to get rain with about 4 inches Saturday night. The field along Big Root at W. Va. 5 was flooded Sunday morning and the river continues to come up.
Kathryn L. Bennett, age 100, of Parkersburg passed away. She was the daughter of Harry Camden & Elizabeth dePue & was born in Roane County.
Local residents were advised by the Wild Frontier Telephone Company that all the copper lines were to be abandoned and local residents would have to do something else to have telephone communication with the “outside world”. One would hope that the PSC (Public Service Commission) would intercede but it seems that their real function is to care for the companies that they regulate. Creston is not the only place in the state or, for that matter the nation where there is no or sketchy call phone service. One alternative required that there is electric service. It hasn’t been so long that electric was out for over two weeks — seems time like that when a telephone would be very important. One thing is crystal clear and that is that folks who live in the “little” counties & especially those who live in rural areas “do not count”.
The “Medicare plan” folks have resumed calling local residents about wonderful new plans and extra “benefits” like cash for groceries & rent. Obviously some government flunky gave out the names & telephone numbers to these scammers and with all the fraud being reported some wonder if they are part of fraudulent schemes without our knowledge. AI could be used to resolve such questions.
Talk continues about having the little coal baronet run to replace the current governor but the coal man was back in the news as he still owes $millions in fines & penalties over his coal operations. As they say we have the best money can buy.

It was reported that the EPA has done away with the Biden rules concerning CO2 capture from power plants. The slight increase in the historically very low CO2 percentage in the atmosphere has already had a very positive “greening” of the planet which is, of course, a very good thing.
The Marcellus & Utica in West Virginia, Pennsylvania & Ohio produced 28% of the 47.73 tcf (trillion cubic feet) of natural gas produced in the nation last year. Over in Ohio Ascent produced 220.55 bcf of natural gas in the third quarter and Enron Oil & Gas produced 8.85 million barrels of oil in the same period. All this is why the hot lead over around Iran should not impact local gasolene & diesel prices as we have record production. Anti growth federal policies [to cut the nation down to size] have closed oil refineries and prohibited construction of new facilities and thus we have to rely on other nations, we are told, to obtain diesel so now in California, the land of fruits & nuts the price is $10/gallon. You can’t blame Trump.
The “Democratic Socialists”, an euphemism for communists have now apparently taken over what once was the party of Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Wallace Barron, “Scoop” Jackson & John Kennedy and their campaign was “stop Trump and Orange Man Bad.” Now, miraculously they have an issue. There had been a well funded (like from Peking) fight against data centers and then, out of the blue there was warnings that AI was “going to kill us all”. Then the Big Eared One rode to the rescue with a “wonderful” plan. Turn control of data centers & AI over to a one world government and all will be fine. China certainly would not cheat & the current big boys would not have to worry about any competition from folks who come up with new & cheaper ideas.

The site is considered a “brown field” and is abandoned. “Wise ones” allowed the rail road to be abandoned north of Wheeling just like the situation between Clarksburg & Parkersburg on the old B & O main line.
The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude dropped to $99.91/bbl. With condensate fetching $82.91/bbl. And Marcellus & utica light bringing $89.91/bbl. Some say that some Iranian agents, perhaps the Houtis, blew up an Arabian oil line somewhere out in the desert sands but who knows. There are those who have TDS [Trump Derangement Syndrome} & they would do anything to try to make the president look bad.
