Afternoon Storms Down Lines and Creates Power Outage

Severe thunderstorms ripped through Calhoun and multiple other counties this afternoon creating a MonPower outage for thousands of customers. According to a MonPower employee, two trees downed lines, followed by a failed jumper created the extended time to restore service.

Forecast for shows Showers with thunderstorms likely this evening, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Patchy fog after midnight. Some thunderstorms may be severe with damaging winds and large hail this evening. Lows in the upper 60s. Southwest winds around 5 mph this evening, becoming light and variable. Chance of rain near 100 percent. 

Sunday’s forecast calls for cloudy skies in the morning, then becoming partly sunny. Patchy fog in the morning. A chance of thunderstorms. Showers likely, mainly in the morning. Cooler with highs in the lower 80s.
