Alumni Event Does Not Disappoint for Action and Entertainment

In hopes of raising funds for the Calhoun Middle High School Athletic Department, Director Emilee Nichols decided to host the Alumni Basketball Game, which was well attended and supported by the County making it a very successful fundraiser. The event drew alumni returns from 1989 to 2022, and the return of former Calhoun Middle High School Coach Tim Davis vying against Coach Tim Moore for the men’s teams, and Former Calhoun Coach Doyle Hupp vying against Current Coach Kevin Boak for the Lady Red Devils.

Both men’s teams had Father/Son coaches and players and the ladies teams had a Mother/Daughter duo on the court with Missy and Savannah Cunningham.

Courtney McKown Williams and Kaylin Parsons were a former coach/player vying against each other with Courtney being Kaylin’s former Volleyball Coach.

Both the Ladies and Mens games were neck to neck the entire game making it a nail biter for fans. It was also one of the finest examples of true sportsmanship and grit by every player that was on the court. As evidenced by the pictures captured by Clear Blue Skys Studios you can see the effort the players put into the game which made it so enjoyable to watch. Ridgeview News was a little surprised and much relieved that there were not broken bones on the court with some of the tumbles and tackles that took place during the game, but there were no doubt some very sore muscles Sunday morning. Both teams lead a wonderful example for the current Calhoun Middle High School players on how to give your all for the home team!

The end result was the Black Lady Red Devils coached by Doyle Hupp winning over the Red team with a score of 25-21.

Coach Tim Davis’s Red Team won the game against Tim Moore’s Black Red Devils with a score of 56-45.

Ridgeview’s favorite picture of the night showing Whitley Cottrell’s utter joy of the game and Missy Cunningham’s brutal determination.
