Austin James Martindale, 34, of Glenville, WV; departed this earthly life in the late evening hours of Sunday, January 11, 2026 in the comfort of his own home, following injuries sustained in a 2017 automobile accident.
He was born July 5, 1991 in Canton, OH; son of John H. Martindale and wife Nancy of North Canton, OH; and Karen (Babitt) Richards and husband Billy of Glenville.
Austin is a graduate of McKinley High School in Canton, OH; class of 2009. Before his accident, he worked as a cook in the food service industry and in his spare time, enjoyed music video games, reading, and watching Star Wars and Batman.
Along with his parents and step-parents, Austin is survived by 3 brothers, Evan “Hannah” White (Devin) of Corvallis, OR; and Jared Knapp (Sasha) of Pittsburgh, PA; and a step-brother, Luke Richards of Glenville.
Also surviving are a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, 1 nephew, Adrian Knapp, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Austin is preceded in death by his grandparents, 3 uncles, and 1 aunt.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Saturday, January 17, 2026 with Pastor Dwight Goff officiating. Burial will follow in the Hunt Cemetery near Big Bend, WV. Friends will be received from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM; Saturday at the mortuary in Glenville.
