
West Virginia State Police officer Brian E. Young filed a complaint in the Magistrate Court of Lora Davis on August 22, 2025 against 32 year old William Craig Barstow.
Officer Young stated that on Friday, August 22, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m. he was notified that a DVP had been filed against the accused, William Barstow, in the Calhoun County magistrate court. Trooper Young was also notified that the accused person was outside the courthouse driving a black in color Ford F-150. The accused is a registered sex offender in this county.
Trooper Young stated that he recognized that William Barstow has no valid driver’s license. The officer located the vehicle
driving near the intersection of River Street and Mill Street, Grantsville, Calhoun County, WV, with the accused as
the driver. The officer then executed a traffic stop and approached the vehicle where the accused was identified as
the same and requested he step out of the vehicle.
As the accused exited the vehicle the officer observed a heavy odor of marijuana coming from the accused and inside the vehicle.
Trooper young inquired if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, to which the accused stated there was
marijuana. This officer observed a small Mason jar in the driver’s door with multiple rolled cigarettes inside and a
label on top marked, “King Buds.” These cigarettes were marijuana cigarettes. Trooper Young then placed the accused
under arrest and seized the drugs as evidence.
Trooper Young also checked the accused ID card through WVSP dispatch in Charleston West Virginia which revealed the
accused had a suspended revoked driver’s license through Ohio . A Further check revealed the accused license was suspended revoked for multiple violations to include operating a vehicle impaired with a conviction date
of 10/25/2022. Trooper Young requested a certified driving record of the accused from the Ohio DMV. While being processed the officer served the DVP on the accused.
William Craig Barstow is currently being held at the WV Central Regional Jail on a bond of $2,500 on the charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Driving Revoked DUI
Mr. Barstow is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
