A big crowd was on hand Sunday afternoon for the Creston Easter party. There were lots of youngsters who got to hunt Easter eggs and then meet with the Easter Bunny who looked very much like the one a few years back on the White House lawn who directed the Senile One away from those who might ask questions that would be hard to answer. There were tables laden with delicious food including Naomi Toler’s fresh baked bread. Photos should appear soon on the Creston website.
The Creston bingo game is scheduled for Saturday afternoon on April 4. Folks had a great time last month.
Jacques Frost paid a visit to Creston Saturday evening but on Sunday it was warm again. Peach trees, violets, bluets, spring beauties, blue bells and many other spring ephemerals are blooming and the tasty ramps are up so some local gourmets are feasting on the tasty onion relative. Also, the USDA’s multiflora rose is out in leaf, an example of government programs gone rogue, now for decades after the big promotion.
Steve Graham, age 72, of Parkersburg died after a fight with cancer. The son of Bud & Dorothy Graham he did surveying work for the City of Parkersburg. Service 1 P. M. On April 1 at South Parkersburg Baptist Church, 1655 Blizzard Drive.
Donald “Pete” Cooper, age 94, passed away. Until age 92 he worked for Pifer’s in Mineral Wells. He was a native of Pettyville and was part of the Creston/Annamoriah Cooper family.
Some local folks were consulting with their medical professionals.
A local woman got one of those polling calls. It may have had to do with Sen. “KaPeeToe”. The local person did not know Tim Willis her primary opponent.
The Calhoun County democrat party had a “No Kings” rally in Grantsville with a pro Antifa [a domestic terror group] sign. It was noted that this was sorta rich for when the Democrat party ruled Calhoun there was always a Boss who called all shots, hired, fired, etc. One man held the position for 40 years and then his lieutenant was in charge for over 20 years.
A source in the postal system said that the new rate for “first class” letters will be 98 cents. Folks need to purchase stamps now while they are “only” 78 cents. Folks now living sent letters for 3 cents & Christmas cards for 1 ½ cents each. A reflection of how inflation has impacted citizens. Along those lines, Warren Buffett sent out checks for natural gas storage. The deal where folks are paid $1/acre/year and the company makes $10,000/acre/year and for the citizens there is NO adjustment for inflation.
It was reported that parents have signed up 983,784 children for the Trump account that start infants off with $1,000 investment accounts. Parents can file IRS Form 4547 when filing the income tax to sign up the children.
As a result of MAHA & Sec. Kennedy’s promotion of healthy real food, the insect agriculture business has been a bust. The losses have been in the $2 billion range for those who “drank the kool aide”. There has been a rejection by the public and as one said, “most people don’t want to eat bugs and insects cost too much to produce.” Bill Gates has been “found out” and his popularity [and his plans] have been rejected. There is still a fear that the deep state folks will place them in hot lunch menus for children, military rations, etc. It seems that the new military is making it a point to serve real food to the nations soldiers, sailors, marines, etc.
Carter Bank the Virginia financial institution that funded now U. S. Sen Jim Justice, has now sold the loans he had with them to another for $289.5 million to another entity.
There are now more than 1000 workers on site at Homer City Pennsylvania for the gas fired power plant and data center complex there. Crickets on the proposed site at the mouth of Katy’s Run.
Statoil/Norsk Hydro, now called Equinor, which is part of the government of the Kingdom of Norway is looking for more investments in the Marcellus [and Utica] in West Virginia.
The US does not rely on oil tankers going through the Strait of Hormuz but other commodities that we use are also impacted. Urea & ammonia fertilizer and phosphates from Saudi Arabia are items needed for modern agriculture. As noted last week when the Marcellus boom started the oligarchs down at the Mouth of the Elk did not want to hear about fertilizer plants in West Virginia. Their comment must have been “How gauche!”. Anyone awake down there now? Seems they are not interested in rare earths and lithium that can be recovered in West Virginia and these items have “glamour”. Perhaps they are like the ignorant newsman who suggested using potash instead of nitrogen fertilizer. Really, ignorance is not bliss when real life decisions must be made that impact the lives of others.
The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude rose to $98.64/bbl. With condensate fetching $80.64/bbl. And Marcellus & Utica light bringing $87.64/bbl. Natural Gas is $3.10/MMBTU which means that the impact of Iran’s damage to Qatar’s LNG facility has yet to be felt globally.
