Beloved Coach Michael Glen Stump has passed

Michael Glen (Coach) Stump, 71, of Chloe passed away suddenly at his home on April 16th, 2024.

Born June 22, 1952 to the late Vance W. and Nelda G. Stump of Orma. He graduated in 1970 from Calhoun County High School, and then served in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1974. He graduated from Glenville State College in 1978 and served on the staff of Calhoun County Schools until he retired with 30 plus years of service.

During his time at the School he coached football, baseball, and golf but his greatest love was for the sport of wrestling earning him numerous awards during his career.

Outside of the school he enjoyed mowing, gardening, fishing, golfing and anything to do with sports. He was a proud Cleveland Browns fan.

He enjoyed his time running with his grandsons and taking care of his family. He was a loved son, brother, husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean Stump, of Chloe, daughter Michelle Stump-Goad of Chloe, Grandsons Christopher (Sydney) Goad of Fairmont, Drue Goad and Evan Griffin of Chloe. Sister Patty (Ed) Hicks of Chloe and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his own family he also had his wrestling family.

He was preceded in death by his brother Butch McKinley, Grandparents Cecil and Nell Jarvis and Fred and Lydia Stump.

Stump Funeral Home is in charge of the services which will be conducted at Calhoun Middle High School on Saturday, April 20th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for visitation with the funeral to follow. Burial will be at the Minnora Cemetery.
