Betty Sue Vadakin Obituary

Betty Sue Vadakin passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, she was the daughter of the late William W. and Ora E. Vadakin. Born on October 16, 1936 in Marietta, Ohio, she was a 1954 graduate of Marietta High School and a 1962 graduate from Marietta College, with a BS Degree in Home Economics and a minor in Science. While at Marietta College she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. In 1959 she joined The East Ohio Gas Company as a Home Service Representative, this was her first and only employment. While employed with the Gas Company, her responsibilities included Food Demonstrations in schools, club groups and providing informative company programs to large groups. She was the President of the Warren Area Home Economic Association. Betty Sue was preceded in death by her parents, William W. and Ora E. Vadakin, her brother, Weldon L. Weber, nieces Barbara Jean Weber and Krista Lynnette Suarez.

Betty Sue is survived by her beloved little dog Muffy who provided her with years of love and companionship. Surviving relatives include her nieces, Pamela Brocious and Teresa Fillmon, her great nephews and nieces, Christopher Fillmon, Tara Martinez (Daniel), Jennifer Fillmon, Tyler Thomas (Katie) and Nathaniel Thomas along with her great/great nieces & nephews Alexander Fillmon, Hailey Fillmon, Jeremiah Martinez and Zoe Martinez and her close cousin, Julie Vadakin Lambert. A special mention for her friend and caregiver Barbara Duskey who has provided love, care and support to Betty Sue during the last several years.

If you know Betty Sue, you know her passions were always animal rights and her community, therefore in lieu of flowers we are requesting donations be made on her behalf to one of her favorite charities ie. The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley; Washington County Historical Society or one of many Horse Rescue Missions Betty Sue supported.

Visitation will be held December 30th @ 11am at Hadley Funeral Home, 500 5th St., Marietta followed by a Graveside Service at Oak Grove Cemetery immediately following visitation. Online condolences may be made at www.hadleyfh.com.
