On Sunday October 8th the Webster County Mountaineers travelled to Calhoun County to close out the regular season. Webster County was not able to send their flag team due to illness with their players so we was able to put together a team of A team boys at the last minute so our flag team could play their final game. At the beginning of the game the size difference made it look like the flag team would be in for a rough day. However, it seemed that every time the older boys were ready to pull a flag they got juked out of their shoes and couldn’t stay on their feet. And every time the older boys were able to score a touchdown it was called back because of a penalty. This ended up with the flag team pulling out an impressive 11-0 victory to end their season. Flag players who found their way into the endzone to score touchdowns on the day was: Gunner Burrows, Jace Nicholson, Charlotte Bain, Jaxon Snodgress, Hal’Lee Hughes, Elijah Yeager, Henry Poore, Spencer Parsons, River Parsons, Aaron Cunningham and Rylan Sampson.

C Team had a tough game coming into the day as they were tied with Webster County in the standings. The winner would be the 3 seed with the other team being the 4th seed. Calhoun had the ball late in the 4th quarter down by a score of 24-18, The Little Red Devils were driving the ball but came up just short as they ran out of time before being able to punch it in the endzone to tie the game. Calhoun had 3 touchdowns on the day from Bryson Swisher.

B Team was able to lock down the 2 seed in the South Division by getting the 49-0 win over the Mountaineers. The win moved Calhoun to 7-1 on the season. The Red Devils had 5 different players score touchdowns on the day. Josh Hardbarger had 3 touchdown runs, Brantley Schoolcraft had 1 rushing touchdown and 6 extra point rushes, Haygan Houchin and Judd Helmick also added rushing touchdowns. Jase Farley added a defensive touchdown as well when he stripped the ball from the opposing ballcarrier and took it 35 yards for a touchdown. Colten Heiney rounded out the scoring for the day by adding an extra point rush.

The A team finished off the day with a 45-0 victory over Webster. This win moved the Little Devils record to 7-1 for the season and also locked the into the 2 seed for the south division. Calhoun had 4 different players score touchdowns on the day. Bentley Snodgress, Tyler Mayle, Wyatt Lawson and Braydon Hardway all scored touchdowns running the ball. Calhoun also added 2 touchdowns through the air when Tyler Mayle and Wyatt Lawson had receiving touchdowns from Liam Yeager passes. Braydon Hardway added a defensive touchdown when he scooped up a fumble and took it back 30 yards for a touchdown. Scoring was rounded out for the day by Landon Hawkins, Chandler Cottrell and Clayton Foster scoring extra point rushes.

With the regular season being concluded all 3 Calhoun teams will be preparing for the playoffs. This will be the 3rd time in 5 seasons that Calhoun has sent all 3 teams into the playoffs. Each team will play on this coming Sunday October 15th at Williamstown. C team will play #1 seed St. Marys at 10 am. B team will be the 4th game of the day when they take on #3 seed St. Marys. Game time will be approximately 2:30 pm. The A Team will finish up the day playing the 6th game of the day with an approximate start time of 5:30 pm when they play #3 seed Ritchie County.
