Calhoun EMS fails to provide Service

Ridgeview News received reports from three very frustrated families on the services not provided by Calhoun EMS following 911 calls, plus additional calls heard via the scanner.

Thursday night, between the hours of 10 p.m. and midnight, (the individual was uncertain due to being the one in distress) a 911 call was placed with no ambulance received. The individual was having post surgery issues that created a restricted airway. Facing the sheer panic of not being able to breath, her husband resorted to taking her to the emergency room in their personal vehicle.

Friday morning, an ambulance run was dispatched by 911, not realizing there was no ambulance crew available. An attempt was made for mutual aid from Gilmer County to no avail. Fire Department was dispatched to aid in loading the patient into a family vehicle.

Friday morning a child was reported having seizures, 911 was called, but no ambulance was available.

Friday afternoon an individual fell in front of an area business and 911 was called again without an ambulance ever being received.

These were the calls that were reported to or by Ridgeview News. Additional issues were reported via 3rd party that are not in this report without verification.

As frustration mounts in a county concerned for the lives of their families, and the County Government attempts to get a levy passed perhaps this is the place to start addressing the matter of cause.
