Calhoun Middle School defeated Tyler Consolidated in game one of a double header. Outscoring the Knights 8-6.
Starting pitcher Tempie Legg displayed her skills with an outstanding performance from the mound. She recorded a dozen strikeouts in seven innings allowing only three hits and four walks.
Calhoun had a scoreless fifth and sixth inning and this gave Tyler the break they were looking for. TC rallied with five runs in the fifth bring the score to 7-6 at the turn. Calhouns defense and Leggs pitching was able to hold off the surging Knights to finish the game 8-6 and a victory for CMS.

Game 2 in this double header Tyler was at bat to start the game. They scored 10 runs in the 1st inning. Calhoun held them scoreless for the next 4 innings while adding 8 runs by the bottom of the fifth inning, bringing the score to 10-8 TC. TC found their offense again, scoring 2 runs in the 6th inning and 6 in the 7th. Calhoun didn’t go down without a fight. Our girls hit the ball well, but couldn’t find any open ground for it to land on. Final score 18-8 Tyler Consolidated with the win.

Calhoun returns to the diamond on Monday, March 30th with a trip to Glenville to face the Lady Titans of Gilmer Middle School. First pitch is at 6 pm.
