Charles Albert Nicholas Obituary

Charles Albert Nicholas, 91 of Harrisville, died, October 23, 2023 peacefully in his home embraced by family.  He was born March 23, 1932 in Grantsville, the son of the late, Ralph L. “Swifty” and Ida Mae Whipkey Nicholas. 

Charles graduated from Calhoun High School in 1950.  He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper, Special Forces, Green Beret during the Korean War. Charles worked as a Utility Person for Consolidated Gas for over 42 years.  He was a member of the Harrisville Baptist Church where he served the Lord in a variety of roles. Charles enjoyed fishing, deer and turkey hunting, golfing, horse shoe pitching, cornhole, hiking, gardening and especially grandchildren. 

Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Nina Rose, and brothers, Ralph, and Carroll, sisters Phyllis and Colleen. 

Charles is survived by brothers Cleston and Phillip, sisters Alta Mae Richards and Sandra Richter. He is also survived by his daughters Michelle D. “Shelly” and husband Rick Boyce of Parkersburg; Rebecca Rose and Don Stemple of North Hills; son, Charles Michael Nicholas of Vienna: grandchildren Justin Boyce, wife Jennifer, children Evelyn and Alex, Chris Boyce, wife Adriana, children Lucia, Nico, Sammy; Stacey Collins, husband Steven, children Sterling and Stella; Andrew Summers, wife Stefani, children Lacey and Ivy; Zachary Nicholas, Jessica Summers, Bethany Dimagno, child Willa, Derek Stemple, wife Aurela, child Samara, Nathen Stemple, wife Haley, child Kendall.

Funeral services will be held 1pm, Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the Raiguel Funeral Home in Harrisville, WV with Pastor Robert Perine officiating.  Burial will follow in the Harrisville IOOF Cemetery.  Visitation will take place from 6-8pm on Wednesday and from 11am until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
