Charles William “Bill” Jarvis Obituary

Charles William “Bill” Jarvis, 86, of Chloe, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice in Huntington, West Virginia.

Bill was born in Minnora to the late Calvin Spencer and Grace Bailey Jarvis on November 22, 1939.

He graduated from Calhoun County High School in 1960. Bill worked in many fields including as a laborer for Miller Construction in Columbus, Ohio, a home builder, and most recently for the Calhoun County School Board. He was a longtime member of the Upper West Fork Volunteer Fire Department, and was one of the founding members. Bill loved hunting, building things, working in his wood shop, traveling, and spending time with family.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Naomi Ruth King Jarvis, his youngest son, Charles Eric Jarvis, his grandson, Elijah Lee Jarvis-Parsons, his daughter-in-law, Deborah Lynn Jarvis, 6 brothers, and 7 sisters.

Bill is survived by his children, Linda Lea Bumgarner (Ken), Debra Joan Fizer (Joe), William Scott Jarvis (Helen), 4 grandchildren, Ashley Noel Anderson (companion, Dustin Vance), Cortney Renee Jones (Travis), Erica Rae Jarvis-Parsons, Jason Eric Jarvis (Lindsey), 9 great-grandchildren, Braxton Anderson (Dezbrianna), Bailey Anderson, Brooks Anderson, Spencer Casto, Bentley Casto, Elizabeth Joy Britton, Jaxen Jarvis-Parsons, Gracie Kay Jarvis and Waylon Coleman “Si” Javis and 2 great-great granddaughters, Isabella Anderson and Chloe Anderson. In addition to his children and grandchildren, Bill is survived by one sister, Madelyn DeWeese, and one brother, Charter Jarvis

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in BIll’s memory to: Upper West Fork Volunteer Fire Dept., ATTN: Randy Perkins, P.O. Box 90, Chloe, WV 25235 or any Hospice House facility.

A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., 1440 Arnoldsburg Road, Arnoldsburg, WV, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Shelly Mace officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow in Minnora Cemetery.
