Commissioner Arthur’s Efforts are Not Going Unnoticed

Commissioner Craig Arthur had a productive meeting in Charleston this week when he met met with Speaker of the House, Roger Hanshaw to present the match funding applications on behalf of Calhoun County. One application was for the critical upgrade for the Pump House Station located at Pleasant Hill. The other application was the Annamoriah and Munday road water extension projects, along with a preliminary engineering study for the Upper Westfork. In total he asked for a little over a 4-1 match for vital water upgrades and water extension projects. While the decisions have yet to made on the Charleston end, the efforts are not going un-noticed by those needing the help.

Citizens from across the county have been attending recent Calhoun Commission meetings, pleading that water be provided for their areas in the community. The Norman Ridge citizens have waited ten years on a project to move forward with delays for various reasons, but the latest being incomplete audits by the Pleasant Hill PSD. With the help of the Commission, Pleasant Hill and Mt. Zion PSD’s were both given the funding to cover the costs of their audits so their projects could move forward.

Both Annamoriah and the West Fork Area of Calhoun have been requesting and are now receiving attention with the ARPA funds being directed toward water extensions in those areas.
