County “Make it Shine” Clean Up Project on Saturday, April 6th

All the supplies necessary to make your community shine will be available at Mom’s Place in Grantsville on April 6th at 9:00 am.

Brenda Bush, who has literally cleaned miles and miles of Calhoun County roads and rivers, sends out the encouraging words “Don’t let this cool weather scare you! Hope to see lots of folks out on Saturday to help. I’m gonna start at Wirt county line and clean up back to Munday Road. Maybe further if I have your help. Who wants to join me?”

The Make It Shine program will provide resources such as cleanup materials, waste hauling, and landfill fees to community groups volunteering to conduct litter cleanups in state streams or on public lands.

More than 3,500 volunteers from nearly 140 groups participated in the 2023 cleanup, removing 215 tons of litter, remediating 87 dumps, and collecting 1,267 tires from 281 acres of public lands and 87 miles of streams across West Virginia.
