The Creston Community Christmas Party was Saturday night at the Creston Community Building. Lots of effort went into the decorating of the building and the tables were loaded with all sorts of delicious food. Lots of presents & candy bags were wrapped for the children and youth. Of course the playground equipment, including the merry-go-round saw action. Then a fellow with a red suit showed up and the children sat on the old fellow’s lap as they were given presents. The photographer said the looks on the faces of some of the children “made it all worth the effort”. Several of the children noted that they were home schooled. Also present was the Grinch, who, to her credit, did hand out bags of candy to the small fry. The community would like to thank all those who donated and worked to make the event something special.

Weather has been a significant part of the news in the Creston area. First there was zero cold and snow with gas line failures and frozen water pipes. Albert Gore Jr. had claimed this wasn’t going to happen again but so much for corpulent gassy politicians who become very, very rich preaching climate doom. Then there were high winds, downed trees, blocked roads and power outages. On Saturday trucks from Potomac Edison were observed at Creston. Some water pipe repairs could not be finished as there was no power to turn on the water pump. Marty deVries and Leon Jurassic, among others, have been very busy fixing broken pipes. The recent weather has been good for the sale of generators.
Chris Arnold was attending to business in Creston & White Pine.
A nature conservancy group has filed a FOIA action against the US Fish & Wildlife Service to obtain the actual number of eagles killed by windmills [wind turbines]. The agency had been claiming that such data was “confidential business information”. It has been noted that the windmills are the major cause of death for eagles.
Speaking of birds, those who have bird feeders & those who just like to watch birds note that the number of feathered friends seems to be greatly reduced this winter. Was it some new virus, some government experiment gone awary or just what? One woman noted that there were no red birds (cardinals) with reduced numbers of titmice, chickadees, nuthatches, white throated sparrows, wrens and juncoes .
26 State Attorneys General have asked the US Justice Department to investigate the Center for Climate Integrity for illegal infuence from Dictator Xi’s communist China in a move to negatively impact energy in America. Previously, Putin’s Russia had been caught funding well known American “conservation” groups that worked to stop oil and gas activity, pipelines, etc. Now much of the effort is against AI data centers that would put America ahead of the communist threat. All this involves what is called “dark money.”
Presently there are 4.149 data centers in the nation with 2,788 more planned. There are 287 in Ohio with a cluster in Virginia near the nation’s capitol. Another, along with a power plant is in the works for Wise County Virginia. Are the folks down at the Mouth of the Elk doing anything to have gas fired power plants & AI data centers in West Virginia?
The 4.5 gigawatt power plant has been approved for Homer City Pennsylvania for a 3200 acre “campus” with data centers but the green weenies are suing to stop the project.
A gas fired power plant with 549 mega watts capacity is back on the planning board for Moundsville. It had been proposed some years back but was said to have been killed by ‘King Coal’.
Enron (EOG or Enron Oil & Gas) had a fire on one of their Utica well pads in Carroll County Ohio while during a frac job. No one was injured.
The US Forest Service announced that there will be a lease sale of 2,795 acres in the Wayne National Forest which is just across the Ohio River from West Virginia. The last lease sale there was in 2017. The area is underlain by both the Marcellus & Utica shales. The Marcellus in Wirt County was compared to the Marcellus in Monroe County, Ohio, part of the national forest.
The propane man was filling tanks in the Creston area on Sunday.
