Creston News Week of July 13th

On July 20, starting at 4 P. M. At the Calhoun County High School on Mt. Zion there will be an “informational” meeting concerning the five proposed large power lines that will cross the county but will not provide any power to Calhoun or surrounding counties.  This taking is to power the data centers and elites who live down near Washington Dee Cee.  No doubt some will say how wonderful all this is but the big real estate appraisers say, “Land used for utility corridors is worthless”.  Also the utilities have a  big, big tax break for as they say, “Only little people pay taxes.”  Folks should attend and see how the proposed routes impact land owned by local residents.

July 25 will be the big summer Creston Poker Run with fun for the entire family.  Take a picnic lunch or have the folks at the building fix you some goodies for a fun ride through water, mud and scenic & historic areas.  Riders can leave at 9 A. M. And signups end at noon.  All Seasons Equipment at Mineral Wells plans to have a special arrangement for those who ride to win a prize at their event beside Cracker Barrell on July 31 and August 1.  One can buy chances on a beautiful poker run themed quilt.

A memorial for Kristen Lonczynski was held Sunday July 12 at the Creston Community Building.  She had been secretary for the Creston Community Building and was a very accomplished person. Rev. Barry Miller provided a short but positive service.

Cleston Garrett, 86, of Millstone passed away.  His sister Wilma Mowrey lives in Creston.

Roma Whiting, 84, of Spencer passed away.  He was the electric motor repair man.  To say that he will be missed is an understatement.  He had a lifetime of experience in the oil fields.

The W. Va. State Republican Party is to have their summer meeting on August 1.  There is talk again of changing the primary making it open again.  Again it was noted that the coal baronet wants to run for governor again and in an open primary his buddy Broadway Joe Manchin could vote for him.

Speaking of the little baronet and current U. S. Senator’s financial woes have taken another bad turn. Back in 2012 Five Mile Energy & New London Tobacco Market got a $17 judgement with 8% interest.  Since that time it has been obfuscation, delay, deflect, etc and now the federal judge has said, “Enough” and the corporate veil is to be pierced.  It was noted that Justice has at least 100 different companies through which funds are passed to avoid creditors.  He is also having problems with his gambling license.

The Creston area continues to have rain and this time the river came up.

A good crowd was on hand for the Creston Bingo game.  Denise only won one time.

There was a big warehouse fine in Parkersburg but, apparently, the Creston are was not impacted.  However, folks in northern Ritchie County were not so lucky.  One woman went out to find that there was a black scum on her family swimming pool and one farmer noted a black scum on his cattle watering trough.  A thirsty bovine came up and placed her nose in the water and quickly removed it and refused to drink.  There are pictures on the internet of sweet corn leaves with what appear to be burn marks from the fallout from the smoke.  According to Delegate Scott Heckert the W. Va. Department of Agriculture has folks in the area gathering samples, information and such is said also to be with the DEP and other agencies.  The cleanup of the burned warehouse was shut down when a bureaucrat said before anything was done there would have to be a test for asbestos and that would have to be removed first.  This person must be a DEI hire and a WOKE one at that.

Beats A Shovel Hoe Service ditched the driveway at the Creston Space Dock until a gauge came loose on the bucket curl valve.

Ed Hardman was attending to business in Creston.

Antero sent out a proposed lease with binding arbitration and a 15% net royalty based on fictional prices [not the actual prices paid for what is produced].  Based on the company’s own numbers a 15% net lease is actually a 7% royalty , less that the state minimum of 12 ½ %.  The residents of the state are held in contempt by those who want our resources and the folks down at the Mouth of the Elk could not care less which is a terrible shame.

EQT announced that their new corporate address is 2200 Energy Drive in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania 15317 meaning that the firm has vacated the EQT Tower on Liberty Avenue in Pittsburgh.  The firm announced that their Longwell 9-H well in Wetzel County has set two new records for a hole reaching 37,610 feet.  Of this 29,070 is a lateral that was all drilled through the Marcellus pay zone.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude is $69.41/bbl. With condensate fetching just $52.41/bbl. And Marcellus & Utica light bringing $59.41/bbl.  Natural gas [elsewhere] is $2.94/MMBTU.
