Diana Lea “Starcher” Satterfield, 73, went to be with the love of her life, her beloved husband, Kenneth “Gene” Satterfield, on September 21, 2026, at 10:42 p.m. After being apart from him since his passing in 2019, Diana is now reunited with the man she loved and cherished so deeply. Though her passing leaves an immeasurable emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, there is comfort in knowing she is home with Gene once again.
Diana was born in Grantsville, West Virginia, and raised in Calhoun County. She was the daughter of the late William “Bill” Starcher and Phyllis Ruth “Jett” Starcher Stump.
Diana was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her life was marked by the love, kindness, and care she so freely gave to others, especially her family.
She is survived by her son, Brian (Tischa) Satterfield; her beloved son by heart, Paul (Jane) McGrew. Grandchildren: Andrew (Jaylynn) Satterfield, Austin Satterfield, Haley (Austin) Bassett, and Tristan Satterfield; and great-grandchildren Brystal, Sawyer, Kimber, Trintan, Tylan, and Taisle.
Diana was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Satterfield; her father, William “Bill” Starcher; her mother, Phyllis Ruth “Jett” Starcher Stump; her sister, Sherry Gunn; and her brother, Kevin Starcher.
For more than 30 years, Diana worked as a beautician in Parkersburg. Through her work, she formed lasting relationships and touched the lives of many people. Her caring nature extended far beyond her profession. She found deep fulfillment in caring for those she loved, preparing meals for family and friends, and sharing her warmth and kindness with everyone around her.
Diana was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church, where her faith and church family were important parts of her life. Her faith was reflected in the compassion she showed others and in the love she shared so generously.
Horses were Diana’s world and held a special place in her heart. Her love for them brought her great joy and was an important part of who she was. Those who knew Diana will remember her not only for that passion, but also for her gentle spirit, generosity, and the genuine care she showed to everyone she encountered.
Above all, Diana will be remembered for the love she poured into her family and for the countless ways she made others feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the love she gave and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
