Dr. Joe Starcher Family Celebrates Milestone of Calhoun FFA Members

For decades FFA (Future Farmers of America) have impacted their homes, families and communities. Members lead service projects, agriculture education, live stock rearing, livestock care and competition, as well as developing leadership opportunities.

Pictured are left to right: Trista Arnold, Phyllis Starcher (widow of Dr Joe Starcher, raised in Grantsville,WV) Lindsey Schoolcraft and Jaelyn Jett. The girls presented Mrs Joe Starcher with a certificate in honor of Dr Joe Starcher being the first ever American Degree recipient from Calhoun County in 1964.

During a recent FFA fundraiser, the three recent FFA American Degree recipients joined the ranks and the family of Dr. Joe Starcher, the only other Calhoun Citizen to have attained this honor.

John Starcher (son), Kyle Lancaster (nephew) Greg Lancaster (nephew) Phyllis (widow) Sandra Lancaster (sister) Kevin Lancaster and wife Ashley (nephew) and Joe Lancaster (brother in law) of Dr Joe Starcher

Phyllis proudly brought and shared Joes blue with the group for the evening. FFA members were able to see how jackets have largely remained the same with subtle differences.
