Ellen “Dianne” Weaver, 76, of Mt. Zion, died Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Miletree Center, Spencer.
She was born December 16, 1949, at Arnoldsburg, the daughter of the late Gene and Annabelle Hall Starcher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ferd Starcher;
Dianne was former employee of Spencer Newspapers, a New York clothes buyer for O.J. Morrison Department Stores, co-editor of Hur Herald internet newspaper for 30 years and volunteered for many civic causes in WV for 40 years.
She was a Methodist.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Robert J. Weaver; children, Jon Weaver of Hur, Eric Weaver of Walsilla, Alaska and Tracey Keaton of Spencer; brother, Stuart Starcher; sisters, Vickie Arison, Renie Starcher and Patsy Richards; grandchildren, August Weaver, Ira Weaver, Emery Weaver, Baeli Frum, Sawyer Frum, Riley Keaton, Lee Keaton, Jack Keaton, Issac Weaver, Caleb Weaver, Bobbie Sue Hedberg and Stephen Weaver; two great grandchildren, Margaret and William Keaton; many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is assisting the family with arrangements.

My condolences to Bob and his family. Bob and Diane were one of the first friends I made in WV years ago. Diane had family ties to our cabin and was always very inviting when I stopped by the Weaver homestead unexpectedly. She was always happy to chat and always ask about our daughter and grandkids. My words cannot say enough about her kindness and her knowledge of the hills. As a loyal Hur Herald reader, she will be missed. Stay strong Bob and reach out to me to chat. Or stop by for some porch time. She was the wind beneath Bob’s wings and will be truly missed.
