Department of Tourism shares second fall foliage update of 2026
Charleston, W.Va. – The West Virginia Department of Tourism has issued its second official 2026 foliage report and updated statewide map.
Fall has officially swept across Tucker and Pendleton counties, with the leaves changing almost overnight. Leaves continue to turn across West Virginia. This week’s top destinations to catch some fall foliage include a scenic train ride at Cass Scenic Railroad State Park, a drive around Davis and Thomas, shopping in Elkins, Seneca Rocks and Kumbrabrow State Forest.
Travelers planning a fall getaway can easily pair foliage viewing with unique local attractions:
- The West Virginia Paranormal Trail: Venture to the Trans-Allegheny Asylum in Weston for a reminder of the challenges of the past and a hotspot for paranormal activity. The asylum offers a haunting experience for history lovers and ghost hunters alike.
