Grantsville Town Council opened up the November 6th meeting, welcoming Isabella McCormick, the newly appointed Grantsville Town Recorder. When asked by Ridgeview News who was training Ms. McCormick, Mayor John Villines answered that he had been working with her as well as Tina Persinger assisting her in learning the operation of Quickbooks.

Project Coordinator Andy Hartleben of he Mid Ohio Valley Regional Council addressed the Town Council to update on the water and sewer projects as well as giving introduction to Josh Carr who will work with the City on future projects. The current 5 million dollar water project now has Zack Dobbins as the project accountant and Zack Thompson representing Thrasher Engineering.
Mr. Hartleben informed the council that the 3.4 million Sewer Project was a little further along than the Water project with Thrasher also overseeing that project.

Mayor Villines requested assistance in looking into grant funding for another beautification project for the Town which could possibly be that of sidewalks which would need work in conjunction with a paving project. Mr. Hartleben recommended the Land and Water grants which offer a 50/50 match fund.
Mayor Villines requested the council and Town staff’s assistance with building a float for the upcoming Christmas Parade which was approved for December 8th, 2025 as well as the installation and decoration of the Town Christmas Tree. A budget of $1,000 was set for both Christmas projects.
The Town recently replaced their Frontier Communication phone system with T-Mobile saving $1,000 each month and provided better service to the Community. Each employee has their own cell phone allowing easier access and after hours calls.
This savings encouraged the Town to purchase a Bob Cat compact track loader for $67,000.00 with a payment of $1,034 which will be taken from all three departments, General/Water and Sewer funds. A Motion by Marissa Staples to lease the bob cat with a second by Emilee Morgan with all council in favor.
Mayor Villines stated that they are taking a close look at the City’s expenses to see where cuts can be made.
Citizens in need of Flood Plain Permits will need to speak with John Canterbury at the Water Department. With that in mind the Town will be speaking to the Career Center for the possibility of building Tiny homes to be placed on the FEMA lots to add additional income to the Town of Grantsville and affordable small housing for residents.
