The National WWII Museum announced that Jaelyn Jett will represent the State of West Virginia and receive the 2022 Billy Michal Student Leadership Award. The Award is given annually to one student from each state who demonstrates the American Spirit in his or her community. The values of leadership, teamwork, tolerance, creativity, and perseverance can and should be learned and lived by all Americans regardless of age. Jaelyn encompasses those values. She will travel to New Orleans in June to accept the award.
Additionally, Jaelyn competed on April 2, 2022, at the National History Day state competition at West Virginia University, winning first place in her category, qualifying her to compete at the national level.
Doing her typical outstanding and brilliant research, she chose to portray Eleanor Roosevelt in the performance category. A wonderful performance, it was enhanced by her impressive knowledge of Roosevelt, which was evident in her responses to the questioning from a panel of judges—they were impressed!
