Lots of Things at the Spring Fling!

The 1982 Foundation Spring Fling has a busy weekend ahead for the Community. As you can see from the graphic above the schedule is packed with daily events and not to be missed activities.

Friday kicks off with 25 Vendors selling their goods inside the Calhoun Count Community Center (aka Old High School). The crafters will all be on the middle floor throughout the hall and classrooms.

Outside on the lawn will be the aroma of breakfast food beginning at 10 a.m. with Pancakes, Sausage and Eggs on Friday as well as Band Booster Hot Dogs going on sale at noon. Children’s bake sales will be on the lawn and all activities will close at 5 p.m.

On Saturday before many will start their day, 78 registered youth turkey hunters will be in the woods competing for prizes. They’ll return with their turkeys (hopefully) between noon and 2 p.m. to have them scored by the WV Department of Natural Resources who will be waiting at a booth on the Calhoun County Community Center Lawn. Awards Banquet for this event, the Musky Event from last weekend and the Children’s Bake Sale will be at 2 p.m. with MC Roger Carter.

Another early morning Saturday event will be a 5K Run/Walk on Route 7, starting at the Community Center. Registration is at 8 a.m. with the race beginning at 9 a.m. The first 20 registrants receive a free tee shirt for the race.

The vendors will once again be selling in the Community Center at 10 a.m. and there will be a Ham, Fried Potato, Ramp and Egg Brunch starting at 10 a.m. as well. Band Booster hotdogs return at noon and will be sold until the close of the event at 5 p.m.

A silent auction of donated items will be located with the vendor show. Many wonderful things have been donated with all funds going to the 1982 Foundation.

Childrens activities will take place on the Wayne Underwood field including a petting zoo, games and prizes, planting strawberries and a community garden and lots of fun, beginning at 10 a.m.

The Revival of Follies is an exciting event for the Community but there has been a change of Venue. The Follies will now take place at the Calhoun Middle High School Auditorium at Mt. Zion, at 7 p.m. All alumni choir is encouraged to come and be involved, with or without practice. The choir will perform several numbers and follies performers from days gone by have returned to do solos, skits and group performances. Entrance is by donation.

Sunday Morning will be a community wide Sunrise Service Hosted by Victory Baptist Church. All area churches are invited to gather at the hangar shelter at the Calhoun County Park at 6:45 a.m. (when the sun comes up) for the service. Following sunrise service those gathered will return to their own churches for Easter Service and events of the day.
