Sergeant N.S. Stepp of the WV State Police filed a complaint in the Magistrate Court of Calhoun County stating that on Thursday, July 09, 2026, at approximately 10:30 a.m. he was contacted by a domestic violence victim. The victim stated that she was a Petitioner of a Domestic Violence Petition where Jerry Glenn McKown was the Respondent and he had violated the protective order.
She went on to explain that she had filed the DVP through the Calhoun County
Magistrate Court on Monday, July 06, 2026. It should be noted that through research, it was determined that this DVP had been served on Jerry Glenn McKown the same day at approximately 9 p.m.
The DVP stipulates that Jerry Glen McKown is not to have contact with the victim to include, but not limited to, electronic communications, direct contact, or indirect contact.
On July 8th, 2026 at approximately 10:18 p.m. the Victim received four text messages from Mr. Mckown’s saved phone number, and then at approximately 12:58 a.m. on July 09, 2026, she received three additional text messages.
These text messages read:
2218 hours:
“loose ppls numbers if they are nothing but a pawn by”
“(ok emoji), (ok emoji), (ok emoji), (middle finger emoji)”
“Did I say bye”
“(middle finger emoji)”
0058 hours:
“Wrong number sorry”
“More sh*t I didn’t need o well thats ur mom”
“I didn’t mean towards her”
She also received four phone calls from on July 9th from a “private number” at 7:41 a.m., 8:25 a.m. And 9:28 a.m. The victim believed these phone calls to have been placed by Mr. McKown.
McKown, who is considered innocent until proven guilty, is currently being held in the WV Regional Jail to await trial. His bond was set at $6,000.00.
