Sheriff Graham Knight filed a complaint in the Magistrate Court of Richard Postalwait on August 13, 2025 against Tara (Jacobs) Metz.
Sheriff Knight stated that on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at approximately 6:08 a.m., he was contacted by Calhoun County Dispatch in reference to Tara (Jacobs) Metz trespassing at 364 Main Street, Apartment 1, Grantsville WV 26147. Calhoun dispatch advised him that the resident reported Tara Metz was “banging” on her apartment door. Previously, on August 11th, 2025, the resident had reported that Tara Metz had been coming to her apartment at
the aforementioned address and that she was not welcome to be at her residence.
On August 12th, 2025, at approximately 10:34 a.m., with his body camera activated, Sheriff Knight had advised Tara Metz that she was not to be on the premises of the apartments.
After responding to 364 Main Street on August 13th, Sheriff Knight observed several white single-serving cereal containers and wet paper flyers strewn along the sidewalk and road in front of the FRN on Main Street. Knight obtained statements from FRN director Tina Persinger, Jessica Metz (apartment resident), and Flossy McDonald (apartment resident). Ms. Metz and Ms. McDonald both stated that Tara Metz had come into the apartment building early that morning and was banging on doors and screaming. Ms. Metz stated that Tara exited the apartment building after being told to leave and proceeded to approach the FRN mission box and throw its contents out onto the sidewalk and trample them, while shouting “let’s go Jess” and “I’ll beat your a**.”
Sheriff Knight obtained security camera footage that showed Tara Metz entering the apartments and captured audio of her banging on the door. He also obtained security footage of Tara Metz emptying the mission box and trampling on its contents. Ms. Persinger provided estimates of the damages, less than $2,500.
After speaking with the women at FRN, Sheriff Knight observed several soaked newspapers spread on the sidewalk along Main Street near Mom’s Place Too. He spoke to owner Lisa Cooper, who stated that she had video footage of Tara Metz taking the newspapers from her front porch and removing cushions from her chairs. The newspapers had been strewn along the sidewalk and were now unsellable because they were soaked by the early morning rain. Ms. Cooper provided the number of newspapers that had been delivered, with an estimated value of $1.00 apiece.
An arrest warrant was issued for Tara Metz on the charges of trespassing, destruction of property and littering in case number 25M07M00203. She is currently being held in the WV Central Regional Jail with a bond of $5,000 cash/surety
