Michael Perry Richards, who had been held in Central Regional Jail on a June 12, 2025 Capias for failure to appear, appeared by Jail transport on Tuesday, July 29th, 2025 for a hearing before Judge Anita Harold Ashley.
Richards appeared with his Attorney, Keisha May, who argued on her clients behalf, that his reason for failing to appear was a communication issue, not a defiance issue.
Richards, having been charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle in case 25-F-6, was set for trial, but Attorney May stated that they were not prepared to move forward at this time.
Judge Ashley continued the trial for October 21st at 9 a.m. with a status shearing on September 3rd, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.
Mr. Richards threw himself on the mercy of the court for release until the next hearing date, assuring the judge he would appear.
Judge Ashley reminded him of his previous failure to appear, and late appearances and that he needed to “get his act together.”
Prosecuting Attorney Hicks stated that he felt Mr. Richards was not a flight risk at which time Judge Ashley approved his release.
