Police Release further details of Greathouse’s Sexual Abuse

The arrest of William D. Greathouse came following an incident on August 9th 2022 when at approximately 10:45 p.m. Calhoun Control (911) received a call from  a resident of Calhoun Homes that she had caught her 5 year old child being molested. The incident was discovered on video at approximately 6:30 p.m. of a close family friend, William D. Greathouse, who had been babysitting her children in her residence. Previous suspicious behavior by her children had caused she and her husband to set up a video in their home when they were absent from their residence. Trooper Richards was given the video that had been taken in their living room of William D. Greathouse clearly molesting their child. This was the first time the camera had been set up, but the mother feared there had been other incidents previously committed. Statements were taken from both parents, at which time Trooper Richards and Cpl. J.B. Hunt made contact with the accused and immediately placed him under arrest on the charges of Count 1: Sexual Abuse in the first degree and Count 2: Sexual abuse by a person in position of trust of a child.

If convicted of the charge of Sexual Abuse by a person in position of trust of a child, Greathouse faces imprisonment in a correctional facility not less than ten nor more than twenty years, or fined not less than $500 nor more than $5,000 and imprisoned in a correctional facility not less than ten years nor more than twenty years.

If convicted of Sexual Abuse in the first Degree, Greathouse faces a sentence that shall be imprisonment for not less than five nor more than twenty-five years and fined not less than $1,000 nor more than $5,000.

Greathouse is incarcerated in the WV Central Regional Jail with his bond set at $150,000 Cash Only.

This continues to be a developing story and we will follow the investigation of Trooper Richards to report the latest. Any information regarding this, or other incidents should be reported to local law enforcement immediately.
