Ruby Returns home This Sunday, January 22

Mayor Terry Williams of Spencer and Public Works have been working closely with the Rock Forge Bridge Company to move Ruby Home. The Ruby Bradley Bridge, going onto Main Street in Spencer along Route 33/119 will be edging its way to its resting place on Sunday January 22, 2023 after 8 p.m.

The move will require the rerouting of traffic from 6 p.m. Sunday evening to 6 a.m. Monday morning. The contractor will do everything possible to make this historical move convenient for citizens of Roane and many neighboring county’s who travel frequently to Roane County. A bypass around will utilize Slate Road and for those in town you can use Alvord-Front-Elm-Prospect around to Pike St.

For Community safety and emergencies Fire and EMS will split their forces on both sides of the new bridge.

  1. How do you move an entire bridge after it’s built??? And Slate is the detour? OMG, there will be so many wrecks…..

    1. I’m not sure, but I’m excited to watch. I understand that WVRC Radio is covering the move live. As I understand it (barely) they move the bridge, inch by inch until it’s in place.
