
On Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at approximately 4:27 p.m., CpL. S. W. Perdue and Cpl. B. Young of the Grantsville Detachment of the West Virginia State Police were dispatched by Calhoun 911 to a disturbance near Hardman’s Hardware Store in Grantsville.
Calhoun 911 advised they received a call advising a male was walking along the roadway swinging a stick and acting erratic.
While responding to the scene troopers were advised the male, later identified as Shirley Rush, had went inside of Bakers Store.
Alter making contact with Mr. Rush in the Store Trooper Perdue escorted him outside the store. Once outside the store Mr. Rush lied about his identity and appeared to be under the influence. He was acting erratic and at times incoherent.
Mr. Rush was searched by the Troopers for weapons, and located several items including a metal wrench, screw driver, etc. Troopers then located a clear bar containing white powder residue along with a clear bag containing a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana on Mr. Rush’s person.
The accused was arrested for 1) Obstructing 2) Simple Possession of Marijuana
Shirley Rush was arrested and taken to the WV Central Regional Jail where he is being held on a $2,000 bond in case number 25-M07M-00064.
