Beginning Monday, January 8th, WV Secretary of State Mac Warner will kick off the start of West Virginia’s 2024 elections by traveling throughout the state to meet with county clerks and their election staff.
“Our county clerks are ready for the 2024 election season,” Secretary Warner said. “We have been preparing for months to administer safe, free, and fair elections in 2024.”
The official candidate filing period for the May 14th Primary Election will begin at 8:30 am on Monday. Candidate filing will continue until midnight on Saturday, January 27th.
From Monday thru Friday, the Secretary will visit with 14 county clerks and members of the local media in an effort to promote the election season to the general public. Over the next several weeks, he plans to visit with all 55 county clerks.
Secretary Warner announced today that the purposes of the statewide tour are included in his “6-Point Plan” to promote interest and participation in the election.
“The 6-Point Plan” relating to the purposes of Secretary Warner’s weeklong effort to crisscross the state next week are:
- To Announce the official start of West Virginia’s May 14th Primary Election with Candidate Filing
- To Promote a fair, safe, and secure election
- To Remind voters to update their current voter registration, if needed
- To Encourage eligible voters to register to vote
- To Educate the public on the voter resources available at GoVoteWV.com
- To Recruit registered voters to be Election-Day poll workers
