
Shyrick Jon “Butch” Raber, age 50, passed away peacefully at 12:48 a.m. on June 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 10, 1975, Butch was the beloved son of the late John A. Raber and Connie Cheesbrew Raber. He graduated from Warren High School in 1993 and went on to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, Butch earned his nursing degree from Washington State Community College in 2007.
Butch was known for his kind heart, his unique sense of humor, and the genuine care he had for his family. He appreciated life’s simple joys and brought quiet creativity to everything he did. He found peace in fishing and had a passion for coin collecting. He also loved rock tumbling and metal working—hobbies that reflected his patience, curiosity, and love of craftsmanship. Butch had many interests, and each one spoke to his thoughtful nature and the care he brought to the world around him.
He is survived by his mother, Connie Raber of Little Hocking, and his sister Amber (Curt) Welch of Little Hocking. He also leaves behind his niece Katelyn Welch (Keifer), and nephews Tyler (Dakotah) Welch, Cole Welch, and Bailey (Logan) Welch. He was a proud great-uncle to Marilee, Bennett, and Elias. Butch will also be fondly remembered by his special aunt Jenny and his loyal cat, Jaxson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Leavitt Funeral Home in Belpre, Ohio. Visitation will take place from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., with the service to follow at 5:00 p.m.
His memory will live on in the quiet moments, the laughter he sparked, and the love he left behind.
