While the growing season has recently ended for much of the lowlands and mountains of West Virginia, northeastern Kentucky, and southeastern Ohio, any remaining agricultural interests should be aware of, and if needed, take precautions for temperatures dropping to or below freezing overnight tonight. In addition, widespread hard freezes are expected Tuesday and Wednesday nights. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes, including hose bibs and in-ground sprinkler systems, they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly

A watch is used when the risk of a hazardous weather or hydrologic event has increased significantly, but its occurrence, location or timing is still uncertain.

An advisory is issued when a hazardous weather or hydrologic event is occurring, imminent or likely.
