In a complaint filed in the Magistrate Court of Calhoun County, Trooper Josh Richards, the Trooper stated that on Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, at approximately 6:20 p.m.Trooper Richards was dispatched to the address of 348
Klipstine Road, Big Springs, Calhoun County, WV 26136 for the possible location of a stolen vehicle reported out of Wood county.
On the same date, at approximately 6:45 p.m. the Trooper arrived on scene and located, as described by dispatch, a metallic Blue 2014 Ford Escape. Trooper Richards ran the WV Temp tag through WVSP Troop 4 Dispatch which came back as the same vehicle out of Wood County that was reported as stolen. It was confirmed thorough the NCIC hit with WVSP Troop 4 Dispatch.
The reporter, in speaking with Calhoun Dispatch advised that it would be in
the possession of a Lacey Lewis. When Trooper Richards arrived on scene, he could not make contact with anyone at the residence at 348 Klipstine Road.
But, after requesting a tow from Westfall Wrecker Service and after
waiting some time, Trooper Richards observed individuals step out of a side-by-side at the bottom of the hill located at the residence. The Trooper made contact with a female and confirmed her to be the Lacey Lewis subject, who advised that she had had the vehicle for an amount of time, she knew it had been reported as stolen, and Ms. Lewis had the keys to the vehicle on her person at the time as well. Ms. Lewis also advised she had the title to the vehicle, but did not have a bill of sale.
Trooper Richards ran Ms. Lewis through WVSP Troop 4 Dispatch to check if she was wanted. She had a warrant out of Wood County for Joyriding for the date of July 18th, 2026, and the warrant was entered on July 21st, 2026.
Since, the vehicle was in Ms. Lewis’ possession at the time, and she shoulders clear control over the vehicle as well as the knowledge it was reported as stolen, Lacey Lewis was taken into custody for a Warrant for Joyriding in Wood County and for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle in Calhoun County. Her bond was set at $1,500.00 for Wood County and $20,000 for the charge in Calhoun. She remains in WV Central Regional Jail awaiting trial.
