In collaboration, Minnie Hamilton Health System and the Calhoun Gilmer Career Center celebrated the completion of ten CNA graduates. The ceremony introduction was made by Calhoun Gilmer Career Center Director, Kyre-Anna Minney.

Minney encouraged the non traditional students (those who were post high school graduates) telling them that they were “The hands of the future in Health Care, giving back to their community, bettering their community and themselves.”

Rebecca Burns, Instructor of Health Occupations at the Calhoun Gilmer Career Center proudly introduced her ten graduating students, saying that the ten were chosen from fifteen applicants. Mrs. Burns said that many of the students had families, jobs and responsibilities, yet maintained their studies and clinical’s throughout the program.
In addition to the a certificates of completion, each CNA was pinned during the ceremony by a family or staff member of their choosing. Following the pinning ceremony the group collectively recited the Nurses Oath and are now licensed to work any where in the State of West Virginia.

The seven week course is made possible through the joint partnership of Minnie Hamilton Health System and the Calhoun Gilmer Career Center. The agreement holds mutual use of each of their facilities by the other, Instruction by Mrs. Burns paid by Minne Hamilton and student clinicals done at Minnie Hamilton Health System.
